‘The Injustice of Self-Preservation’:

God’s Holy Spirit has gotten me deeply philosophical this glorious Monday.

Isaiah 10 is so explosive that my inner-activist is rearing to go. God poses this question to me, “How do we (humans) come to create oppressive, and unjust laws?”

This question is so profound that I’d need time to trace the history of how various laws came into being, who decided them, on what grounds, and what motivators where behind them, in order to trace how we have systematically created oppression and injustice.

The short answer is obvious, however.

By default of human nature, when we, and we all struggle with egoic god-complex, exclude The ONLY Living God, the God of the Holy Bible, from our lives, particularly from our decision-making process, automatically our internalized survivalist bias will lean towards self-preservation.

This is only managed when we hold ourselves accountable to THE TRUTH of God’s Way.
WHY?
Because you and I have been conditioned by experiences, education, and people, we are not good yardsticks to measure truth from untruth.

THINK ABOUT IT LIKE THIS…..
(I’ll use my life as an example)

I was born, 11 April 1974, Addington Hospital. I  think it was early morning. The climate was apartheid, politically.
Growing up, I was taught that my pale skin was called white. My privates were called ‘boy’.
From then on, those identities created expectations of what a white boy in apartheid South Africa means.
The problem was that I didn’t fit any of those identity expectations that were formed by the conditioning I experienced, so internal conflict was born.

It has taken God, 19 years, since I came to believe in Jesus, to help me undo the conditioning that created internal conflict, to let go of the conflict, and begin to see myself as Jesus says I am. Which, by the way, somehow creates peace in me.

THE POINT:
Because we have passed down, through the generations, culture (which may be lies all along), our neurosis, our trauma, prejudice, self-righteousness, god-complex, classism, etc, each and EVERY one of us has a built in bias that wants to be right.

Until we surrender the fact that we are NOT accurate agents of morality, right & wrong, we will by default oppress another to satisfy our belief of internal importance. Thereby, our man-made laws will ALWAYS favour someone over another. And voila oppression and injustice.

I looooooooove how Isaiah 10 vs 2, disproves the toxic feminist narrative that God is sexist. We see God’s deep concern for the injustice bestowed onto women, by a culture of the day that favoured men.

Could be much of eastern world, and Africa, still to this day, 2023.

Isaiah 8 vs 3, gives me such a thrill. It sounds like things I have been screaming on social media for years, “Where can we run, other than on earth?”
Humans at best can survive just over 1 year in outer space before our bodies start giving way, so we literally have nowhere to run.

God, is warning us to take a serious sip of reality in Isaiah 10 through the example of these ancient cultures. We are so hell-bent on repeating, despite the great strides made by the west to uplift human oppression. Gosh, China, India, and Africa, STILL have the highest scores of modern slavery index.

BUT………

What a beautiful juxtaposition God places, through Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 10 vs 1, “You are doomed.”

The unavoidable outcome of self-preservation is destruction. It’s a principle etched into life that we can, and will never beat.
WHY?

Reading, just a little history, we see revolutions unfold that shaped the world. We see wars break out. We see the oppressed rise up when they have had enough abuse, and take a stand. Self-preservation will always lead to an uprising of those who are within the net of those being preserved out of the bounds of injustice.

Our Gorgeous Father, however, doesn’t want us to behave in this idiotic way. He who knows the end is calling each and every one of us to take stock of our conditioned bias by letting Him unravel us, and reform us into Agape Love: self-sacrificing love.

After all, Messiah King Jesus, informs us of this destructive self-preservation, self-determinist, survival-of-the-fittest-mentality.

LUKE 17 VS 33:
“Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it.”- Messiah King Jesus.

PRAY THIS:
Father God,
Please forgive me for making life about me. I didn’t realize that my human conditioning that tried to preserve the best for was a delusion that creates oppression of others by judging them as unworthy. Please help me to unlearn my conditioning, and to relearn who I am as per Your Declaration of me. I want to want what You have written in Your Book of Life about me. Please lead into that, and help me to make amends where I have done wrong. Give me eyes to see that ALL people must be loved and respected, so that Your Love through me can draw them to Messiah King Jesus to reach, save, and transform for Your Glory.
Jesus, please be my Lord and Saviour.
Holy Spirit please fill me so that I can walk out of untruth into God’s Truth as You teach and guide me.
In Your Holy Name Messiah King Jesus
AMEN
