Some people talk about legacy within the confines of the physical death the grave and what inheritance we leave behind.
Although, financial discipline is critical, and leaving an inheritance a nice thing, the truth is that life has gone on for people with or without money or inheritance. Yes, it makes certain things easier, money, but it can be gained through theft, exploitation, corrupt means, and through illegal means. Hence, money is not necessarily a yardstick for success. It is if wealth is gained honestly, and speaks volumes about character when it isn’t.
Psalm 102 vs 17-20 sits in the backdrop of a poem about God being ready and waiting to help us in difficult circumstances.
But, in the middle of these beautiful Passages there is a profound statement that broadens our mind regarding legacy.
Psalm 102 vs 18:
“Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord”
Legacy through God’s Right, Holy, and Only-Right-Perspective is that true legacy is one where people are being taught about Him so that He can save us from the prison of this corrupted world.
Messiah King Jesus says, Revelation 22, “Behold, I come, bringing my reward according to what each has done.”
Done refers less to what we achieve, but everything about the motive and method of achieving them.
If we have gained wealth exploitatively, and for self-praise, it counts for zero before God.
HOWEVER…….
If we have acquired wealth honestly and for the purpose of Glorifying God through relationship with Jesus, then our rewards are coming.
Psalm 102 reminds us that God has the open hand of invitation extended through every generation until Jesus returns. Our FIRST and PRIMARY job as Believers is to show people our WONDERFUL FATHER who wants to help us and save us.
This is true legacy.
The uncomfortable reality is this:
Whether you or I like it or not, believe it or not, do it or not, THE ONLY TRUE LIVING GOD is the God of the Bible. Every other so-called faith that exists today, bar the list of known fake religions (yes there is an actual academic list of fake beliefs) finds its origins in middle eastern paganism, the very awful beliefs that God worked tirelessly to rescue a people from through which Jesus came.
JESUS CHANGED THE WORLD BY EXPOSING THE LIES OF THESE FALSE BELIEFS.
Sadly, they persist still, because we are too lazy to challenge what we THINK is true by bringing it before Jesus to show us true TRUTH.
Legacy is dead if at best it can get us into hell in fancy clothes, cars, and stuff, that will burn as quick as the cheap stuff.
An interesting paradigm shift is this EVERY home has a dirty broom. The question is if our brooms are cleaning our idols or if they are cleaning up our spiritual lives through Jesus who is THE WAY, THE LIFE, THE TRUTH.
The INCREDIBLE thing is this, as I have countless times, YOU CAN EXPERIENCE JESUS FOR YOURSELF.
Not as in academic pontification, or philosophical deduction, but as in rubber-on-the-tarmac actual physical encounter with God.
My very best description of encountering Jesus in real terms, but supernaturally is this:
*It feels like you are suspended between two worlds. You know you are here, on earth, and conscious of that, BUT, simultaneously, you are aware that you are somewhere else too. In that somewhere else, somehow you know you are experiencing God. It is like something in you recognizes your Maker. There is a sense of being washed clean, staring into the most pure light filled with a glory so huge it is immeasurable, but yet deeply personal. Everything about the experience tells you that it is Jesus. It is all about Jesus.”
But, hey, please don’t believe me. You do you boo. BUT, if you dare be brave enough, as I was age 30, and decide to discover if Jesus is real for yourself, you are in for the ride of your life.
WHAT MAKES ME LOVE THE HOLY BIBLE SO MUCH?
There is not a single part of humanism that isn’t torn to shreds by it. And that is wonderful because I learn who I was supposed to be in God, before this mess landed at my feet when I was born into it.
JESUS LOVES US.
